Claire’s first feature – a humorous account of organising childcare for her three small children while at college - was published in The Guardian just as she completed a postgraduate journalism course at the London College of Printing.
She then wrote for national newspapers as a freelance before going into the charity sector to edit their magazines or lead their media relations work.
Through her work she was privileged to meet many people whose courage and determination were wonderful examples of never giving up. She often wrote about how they overcame personal and professional challenges. From individuals to community leaders, creative entrepreneurs to ballet dancers, they all had one thing in common – an indomitable, courageous spirit.
Claire has drawn on their inspiring examples in her own life as she learns to navigate her own journey through widowhood. Her three poetry books describe her voyage of discovery, of new life, new loves and new lands while her blog Girl on Tour describes her latest travel adventures.
